This is a suar wood salad bowl that is handmade by artisans in Jepara, Java, Indonesia. The wood is first kiln dried to reduce the moisture content of wood before its use, and is then finished and polished with beeswax to protect the wood. This treatment is food safe.

Because each bowl is handmade, there will be some variations in color, shape and size. While the bowl is 7 inches in height, the bowl is quite shallow and only has inside depth of about 5.5 inches.
